Smooth out Your Rough Edges with Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a modern procedure that can help men and women achieve the smoother, more even skin contour that they desire. It is very effective in minimizing acne, pox and injury scars, wrinkles caused by aging or the sun, and age spots.

The damaged surface of the skin is "sanded" by the doctor using a rotary instrument. This planing action removes the outer damaged skin layers, resulting in improved skin appearance.

Dermabrasion is performed by one of our doctors in our outpatient centers. The amount of time required for the procedure depends on what is to be done. It can be as short as 10 minutes for a few wrinkles or acne scars, up to 45 minutes to treat the entire face. The area to be treated will be numbed to avoid discomfort.

After treatment, you may experience some swelling, and feel like you have a mild sunburn. Most of this discomfort can be alleviated with medication. Most patients resume normal activities within two weeks.

Dermabrasion was used to smooth out the rough texture of scarring left by acne on this patient's face.
