Now Hear This
For some people, it's all about their ears: they stick out too far; they're too big; they're mismatched in size; they're misshaped.
Feeling self-conscious about ears can be especially troublesome to children, who spend time with peer groups that can be unfeelingly cruel and vicious.
Many adults and children can benefit from Otoplasty. This cosmetic procedure can bring ears back into proportion with the size and shape of the face and head. The procedure does not alter hearing ability, and can do wonders for self-esteem.
Otoplasty can be performed at any age after the ears have reached full size, which is usually around 5-6 years of age. Since the cartilage of children's ears is not as firm as in adults, their ears can more easily be reshaped and molded into the desired form.
During the consultation, one of our experienced physicians will examine the structure of your ears and discuss options for correcting the problem. Typically, Otoplasty takes about 2 hours, and is performed in one of our outpatient surgical centers. Patients go home right after the procedure, and most experience only mild discomfort for a few days.
